If you are skilled at both back-end and front-end development and enjoy working with the latest technology while building interactive web-applications that will be used by thousands of users, this is the right team for you.

We are looking for a self-starting, self-directing front-end developer who is creative and passionate about developing highly interactive Web-based applications and dashboards. You will be expected to work in a heterogeneous environment of different languages and technologies and bring flexibility, speed and quality to our team. You should have experience building server-side web-components in Java or Perl and AJAX-based UI development. You should have a solid background in the fundamentals of software development, and have a deep understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. You should be skilled in gathering and analyzing business/functional requirements and translating those requirements into technical specifications and design documents.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in XHTML, JavaScript, CSS and other Web 2.0 techniques.
- Expert in developing efficient AJAX interfaces with in-depth knowledge of at least one AJAX frameworks (e.g. Ext-JS, YUI, JQuery etc.)
- Passion for creating efficient, scalable web interfaces.
- Strong OO design and coding skills in Java is a must.
- Expert-level experience in a Unix/Linux development environment.
- Understanding of web services technologies such as SOAP, HTTP, WSDL, XSD, and REST.
- Bachelor's degree - preferably in computer science or a similar discipline.
- Should be genuinely excited about technology, have a strong interest in learning about and playing with the latest technologies and building compelling web applications and UI. Must be a self-starter and motivated.
- Should have some experience in Struts, Swing or JSP.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Ruby) is a plus.

A week packed with debates for Mallahan & McGinn

Seattle voters have lots of chances this week to see mayoral candidates Mike McGinn and Joe Mallahan face off in televised debates.

Last night’s KIRO 7 debate is now available online here.

On Wednesday, KING TV and The Seattle Times will be sponsoring another debate. It will be taped during the afternoon and aired from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. (I’ll be one of the media panelists.)

And Thursday, Mallahan and McGinn will face each other again in a debate cosponsored by KCTS 9, The Seattle Times and KUOW 94.9. The debate will air live starting at 7 p.m. on KCTS 9, KUOW and KPLU.

On Saturday, the candidates will debate at 9 p.m. on KOMO TV. That event will be simulcast on KOMO Newsradio 1000-AM and 97.3 FM and streamed live on komonews.com
