Eighth District challenger Dillon to hold a town hall meeting

He may not have much money, but Republican Tim Dillon of Yarrow Point says he’s running a serious campaign to unseat Republican Rep. Dave Reichert in the 8th Congressional District.

The Yarrow Point town councilman is holding a town hall meeting July 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Aegis Retirement Facilities at 148 102nd Ave S.E., and says he’ll reveal his economic recovery plan at that time.

Dillon says he voted for Reichert in the last election, but has become disillusioned by Reichert’s stance on certain issues — in particular, his support of cap-and-trade legislation, which Dillon says he would vote against.

The 39-year-old Dillon has worked at Microsoft and Expedia Encarta, and is in between jobs; he says he’s out campaigning every day.

Reichert’s most formidable opponent in the Aug. 17 primary is likely to be Democrat Suzan DelBene, who started running in February 2009 and has raised more than $1.6 million. In addition to DelBene and Dillon, six other candidates will be on the mail-in ballot, including Republican Ernest Huber, Democrats Thomas Cramer, Keith Arnold and Boleslaw (John) Orlinski, and independents Caleb Love Mardini and Robin Adair.

Dillon says he has raised less than $5,000 so far.
