As you wait out front for a seat at Glo’s during their new operating hours, the only problem might be trying to read the Stranger with only a streetlight to illuminate (for those of you who, you know, still read stuff on paper). Starting as Friday slips into Saturday this Labor Day weekend, the crowded breakfast joint will begin its new midnight to 4 PM weekend hours while continuing to open seven hours later the rest of the week.
Glo’s owners tell Seattle Met foodie writer guy Christopher Werner the new hours are the result of a scuttled attempt to open a second location:
The idea to go late-night came when plans for opening a second location fell through, Reisman said. Hopes for another diner fizzled when it became apparent the capital needed to purchase and subsequently use the Glo’s name just wasn’t there, she elaborated.
With newbies like Homegrown Sandwiches and Big Mario’s expanding Capitol Hill late night (drunk) food options, the Hill’s restaurants appear to be taking this whole nightlife initiative thing rather seriously. Any more of this kind of activity and we’re only a completed mass transit project or two away from becoming a Real(tm) City.
It’s not a bad weekend to kick off this kind of fun. With PAX 2010 underway just down the Hill, there will be even more late night shenanigans than, um, normal this weekend.
