Jonah’s on it at SeattleCrime.com:

A 21-year-old man was injured in what appears to be a drive-by shooting in the Central District a few minutes ago. It sounds like the wounded man was shot in the leg and is conscious.

The shooting took place at 29th Ave S and S Charles Street.

More as we get it

Update: Going back to review the scanner:

  • Calls started coming in from the area at 10:32pm, around the 700 block of 28th Ave South.
  • One complainant heard arguing near 28th & Dearborn prior to the shooting, and saw a silver midsize car drive away afterwards and people running away southbound
  • At 10:34pm another call to 911 reported a victim down in the 800 block of 29th Ave S.
  • At 10:35pm police were flagged down by people on a porch, with a male victim just inside the door suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was alert and conscious
  • Possible suspect car is a small, red, newer Honda, last seen westbound on Dearborn.
  • Vehicle was occupied by four younger black males, with the shooter in the back drivers-side seat, wearing a dark-colored beanie
  • A red Chrysler was stopped at 29th & Norman, but was apparently unconnected
  • The victim was taken to Harborview for treatment, with what sounded like non-life-threatening wounds

Update: SPD confirms that the victim didn’t have life-threatening injuries

On December 22nd, at approximately 10:30 pm, East Precinct officers responded to a shooting call at the corner of 29th Avenue South and South Dearborn Street.  A 21 year-old male and his friends were standing on the corner when a car drove past them and someone inside the car began shooting at the group.  The victim was struck several times in the abdomen and thigh, but they are not life-threating injuries.  The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.  There is little information about the suspect, other than he is described as a black male in a red, smaller car.  Gang Unit detectives also responded and processed the scene
